What’s In Your Carpet?

What's In Your Carpet

Most homes have carpets in them, and even tho they bring warmth and comfort to our homes they are a perfect home for microorganisms such as mold, mildew and dust mites as well as being a breading ground for flea’s, carpet beetles and more. If you have pets in your home your carpets will collect your pets dander, also human dead skin cells which is a great food source for the dust mites, flea’s and carpet beetles. Carpets also hold everything you bring in on your shoes such as soil, animal feces, chemicals and everything else found on the ground outside.

Best Tip Is:

  • Encourage family members and visitors to remove shoes when coming into your home, avoiding pesticides, pollutants and dirt coming into our homes on our shoes and being walked all over our carpets, suggest wearing slippers or socks that are not worn outside.
  • Vacuum and have your carpets professionally cleaned regularly please see my previous blogs on how often these processes should be carried out.

Great read! It’s so important to be mindful of what we bring into our spaces on the soles of our shoes. Encouraging the practice of leaving shoes at the door can significantly reduce the transfer of outdoor contaminants. Regular maintenance is key to keeping those unwelcome guests at bay, ensuring the longevity and freshness of every fiber underfoot. Thanks for sharing these insights—definitely a reminder of the little things that make a big difference in our daily living environment.
